What Are We Celebrating at Blue Tomato Plan P?
On the 13th of January the QParks Tour had their second event of the 2018 ski season: Blue Tomato Plan P. They didn’t just celebrate the New Year and the winners of the freestyle showdowns, but also took the chance to wish a happy 15th birthday to QParks. At the same time, Superpark Planai hit the milestone of 10 years. Blue Tomato redefined the definition of celebration when they gave every rider the gift of feasting on a mouth-watering BBQ and provided the riders with a refreshing tea while waiting for their next run. We truly had a day of endless celebration as the gifts didn’t stop there. Riders didn’t have to worry about forking out any money as the participation fee was free. The Pièce De Résistance of the day was hands down the birthday cake that could satisfy any rider’s sweet tooth after a hard day of shredding.
The Alpha Shredders of the Day
Blue Tomato Plan P isn’t your everyday event. You got to see all kinds of riders showcase their art of shredding. You still had your serious riders, whose main objective was to improve their QPark scores. Alois Lindmoser struggled to hide his nerves when he reached Planai, after shredding at the snowboard world cup in Aspen/Colorado the day before. Despite Alois only qualifying in third place, he dominated the snowboard men’s finals with an overall score of 88,5. The Austrian riders made their presence known, as they were the dominating force of the day. In an event with 48 tour entries, they were the majority force of 18 riders. They took home three titles on the day, where Lukas Frischut took 1st place at the Groms event. Italy and the Ukraine respectively entered two riders and managed to wheel in a victory each. Italy’s Federica Sola took home the snowboard woman’s title after a nail-biting final, with a score of 65. Ukraine’s Sergey Sanzhapov defied gravity when he got the Woosports airtime award for being airborne for an impressive 26 seconds.
Where to From Here?
QParks took celebration to the next level at Blue Tomato Plan P and recovery time is now clearly needed. Withdrawl from a lack of snowboarding will ease after Penken Battle, as the next session will only be a week away. Don’t forget to make your way down to Penken Battle at Penken Park Mayrhofen on the 3rd of January 2018 to stake your claim and points. The 10th of February 2018 is a date you need to save. That’s when we’re moving on to Gold & Glory, hosted at the Golden Roofpark Axamer Lizum. We’ll have passed the half way mark of the tour when badenova Snowpark Feldberg time hits. Badenova Masters Feldberg will be session 5 and will be hosted at the one and only badenova Snowpark Feldberg on the 17th of February 2018. After badenova Snowpark Feldberg there are only 4 stops to go.
