AfriSki Mountain Resort: Opens Tomorrow!

Let the Count Down Begin!

In just 24 hours, AfriSki Mountain Resort in Lesotho will be welcoming in the winter. The ski and snowboarding season is about to begin. Yes, you read that correctly. You can once again get your snow fix right here in Africa. Don’t forget your passport!

AfriSki Resort

If you’ve never visited the AfriSki Resort before, then you’re in for a real treat. Located 3050m above sea level in the Maluti Mountains of Lesotho, this is one of only two skiing resorts in Africa. In fact, the resort is so awesome it even runs in summer. There are a number of snow-related activities available on offer at AfriSki. Here’s a quick list to get you going:

Activities @ AfriSki

Skiing-based

1. Visit Kapoko Snow Park

Kapoko Snow Park

This is the only freestyle snow park in Africa. The jumps, rails and fun boxes are hand shaped and groomed at night, ensuring a perfectly-shaped park every morning.

2. Brush up on your skills with AfriSki Snow School

From beginners to those who want to refine their skiing or snowboarding technique, the AfriSki Snow School can assist. For those needing to borrow equipment, the rental shop can kit you out. Equipment is available for those over the age of four. However, if your shoe size exceeds a size 15, please bring your own snow boots. By the way, hitting the slopes in your fav jeans is not wise. Thankfully, there’s a Gone Skiing shop at AfriSki – for that very reason. Pop down for a visit.

3. Buy a snow pass

Unfortunately, you won’t be allowed on any of the slopes or admittance to lessons if you don’t have a snow pass on you. Snow passes are available for as little as half a day. However, for the super enthusiastic, there is the option of purchasing a full season’s pass. Passes can be bought at the resort or in advance as part of one of our ski packages.

Non skiing-based

4. Not the skiing type?

There’s no need to feel left out if your legs aren’t feeling the vibes. You can bumboard instead. The more adventurous bumboarder can even join us up on the main ski slope after 1600 for an adrenaline-fueled experience. Seriously, try it.

5. Join the Pudi Club

This club is strictly under 12s only. Sorry mum and dad, you’re not invited to this party. The Pudi Club provides entertainment to both kids and youths, ensuring that they have as magical a time as you do. Activities are available between 0900 and 2200.

6. Skiing makes you hungry

Gondola Cafe

Visit the Sky Restaurant. At 3010m, this is the highest restaurant in Africa. Alternatively, if you just want a cup of hot chocolate to warm the hands, pop into the Gondola Cafe.
